World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade
Item upgrades allow players to raise the item level of equippable weapons and armor. This boosts the stats of the item and can also add buffs or rerolls an attach.

Cost
The player must spend gold to upgrade an item. The cost of upgrading an item varies based on the item's current status and type of upgrade. Upgrades to weapons are generally cheaper than upgrades for armor, since weapons have lower requirements. The amount of Gold required for upgrading an item increases as the item is upgraded.
The upgraded items will also have improved stats that can improve its performance in various ways. This includes increasing the power of its attack, critical strike chance, or damage per second. Additionally an upgraded item might be able to offer additional buffs for its equipped unit. These upgrades are able to be used for a number of reasons such as to increase the overall power of an individual or group unit. They can also affect the overall the gameplay.
The items can be upgraded at any NPC that is an upgrader in the game. These NPCs are located in major questing areas or capital cities. You can also find upgraders of items by visiting dungeons that have high-level bosses, and speaking to NPCs in garrisons of your faction.
The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to improve the quality of weapons, armor and trinkets. This procedure is similar to the reforging process used in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However instead of using currency, players have to visit an item upgrader to complete the process.

Requirements

Time
Upgrades to items can be used to boost the stats of your gear and ship without having to level them. Upgrades aren't cheap but they can be an effective way to boost your stats without having to spend a lot of time fighting. It's crucial to be aware of the cost and benefits of upgrading your items before you invest your money or time.
Each upgrade boosts the stats of the item by in a specific amount, and gives a chance to get an additional substat. The random substat may range from a small increase to a significant boost. Concentrate on the things that perform best in slots first. They will provide a higher returns for your money.
You can see the time required to complete an upgrade by opening your inventory and selecting an item such as a ship, weapon, or accessory. The upgrade window will show the expected completion time and progress. In some cases you may be able to speed up the process of upgrading by applying an Glyph.
Black Lion Salvage or Ascended Salvage sell a top-quality salvage kit which allows you to recover all or a portion upgrade components. Some upgrade components also have cosmetic effects. Upgrade components are available through crafting, purchasing from vendors or the Trading Post, looting or receiving as a gift. Additionally players can retrieve upgraded items by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using a top-quality salvage kit. Glyphs, which are placed in tools for gathering can be swapped out without restrictions.
By selecting the item and pressing the green button with a an arrow for rerolling the player can reroll it to create an upgradeable item. This will change the layout of the item's window and allow players to choose up to six items to "recycle". The item that is recycled will be exchanged with an item at level 1 of the same kind. Recycled items won't keep their status, nor will the resources used to upgrade them.
The maximum upgrade level of an item is determined by the item's tier and its quality. Rare and Epic items are able to be upgraded to levels of nine, while common items can only be upgraded up to level six. The item upgrades are added to the base statistics of the item. This means that they will not increase further after a certain level.
